Empowering impaired individuals to work and providing them with a safe job is what the Allgäuer Werkstätten in Kempten achieves every day. Thanks to STAHL’s professional washing machines, dryers, troughed ironers, and folding machines, the laundry team at Allgäuer Werkstätten can now deliver fresh laundry and reduce costs simultaneously.
Based in Kempten, the laundry of the Allgäuer Werkstätten offers customers from industry, gastronomy, and private households perfect laundry results. The team at the laundry handles mainly workwear and flat linen. Employees under the roof of the Allgäuer Werkstätten primarily represent individuals with special needs, supporting them to integrate into the community with a regular job. The Allgäu workshops were founded in 1975 from a parents’ initiative of the local living assistance. In seven facilities at the Kempten and Sonthofen sites, some 670 people with disabilities are currently cared for by around 180 employees. The Allgäu workshops offer jobs in a variety of activities. There is, for instance, a carpenter’s workshop, metalworking, assembly, or soap production.
To make the processes in the laundry as simple and efficient as possible, the Allgäuer Werkstätten decided in 2021 to purchase five more washing machines, a dryer and a dual roller flatwork ironer, and a folding machine from Gottlob STAHL Wäschereimaschinenbau. For a good reason: STAHL has been developing and producing professional laundry machines exclusively at the company’s site in Sindelfingen, Germany, for over 100 years. High-quality craftsmanship, dependability, and innovative engineering are the features that guarantee the energy- and cost-efficient operation of all our products.
Simplified Handling
The STAHL machines are user-friendly and individually programmable. They have already passed the field test in the first few days at their new location in Kempten. Along with energy, cost efficiency, and a good washing result, ease of handling was a priority when choosing suitable machines so that all laundry team members could handle them.
Both Sustainable and Energy Efficient
Regarding washing machines, employees at the Allgäuer Werkstätten now have many models. An ATOLL 220 has been added to the existing ATOLL 140 and the T 234 tumble dryer at the first location in Kempten. The second location in Kempten, which has only worked with the MC 800/2500 troughed ironer, was expanded. The site now includes the ATOLL 100, DIVIMAT D 400, DIVIMAT D-P 600 with a two-compartment drum, and DIVIMAT D-Y 1200 with three compartments in Y-pitch.
Both professional washing machines score with a well-thought-out design and numerous functions that significantly improve the washing process and are environmentally friendly. The ATOLL is the all-rounder for all textiles and applications; the DIVIMAT is a partition washer and particularly suitable for hygiene-sensitive applications. STAHL washer-extractors are equipped with unique thermal insulation, which means virtually no heat is lost. Furthermore, thanks to intelligent load quantity recognition, laundry machines only consume as much water and power to complete the wash cycle as is needed. Over the long run, it saves energy and costs. A high-performance washing mechanism with alternating water pressure is also designed to clean laundry efficiently and reduce detergent simultaneously.
The STAHL ATOLL and DIVIMAT washing machines can be used to wash everything that accumulates in the Allgäuer Werkstätten laundry: towels, bed linen, bathrobes, tablecloths, curtains, napkins, mop covers, wiping cloths, but also workwear such as personal protective equipment (PPE).
Crease-free Laundry
For the Allgäuer Werkstätten, experience with STAHL laundry machinery has been positive. In addition to the ATOLL 140, the Kempen laundry team has been using T 234 tumble dryer for some time. The new POWERROLL 800 double-roller ironer now ensures a high-performance laundry finish. The trough ironer is equipped with two rollers, enabling the laundry team to iron as much as possible quickly. To complement this, Allgäuer Werkstätten has purchased the DOMESTIC flatwork folding machine from STAHL for this site, which performs up to two vertical folds behind the trough ironer. In Sonthofen, a location that did not use any STAHL machines before this, the Allgäuer Werkstätten’s machine park is now reinforced by the T 246 laundry dryer.
An additional compelling reason for the Allgäuer Werkstätten’s purchase decision: STAHL laundry machines typically last for decades. STAHL builds in Germany and uses exceptionally durable, premium-quality materials in its manufacturing process. Consequently, the facility felt it was essential to choose products that were as energy-efficient as possible. These laundry machines are robust and built with minimum wearing parts, making them easy to maintain. The superior quality of STAHL laundry machines guarantees an above-average service life.
Individual Delivery
When buying this kind of efficient machine, STAHL offers an outstanding service. No distance is too far for the manufacturer to deliver the STAHL laundry machines professionally to the customer. STAHL also brought the machines to Kempten safely and with care: the first step was by truck; on arrival at the laundry, the machines were hoisted high over the building, in some cases by crane, before being placed in their correct location for the laundry operation.
