History

For over 100 years, we have exclusively developed, designed and produced
commercial laundry systems

Through our experience and expertise, we know what our customers want: Our machines guarantee maximum flexibility, thorough and simultaneously gentle handling of your textiles and minimal energy and water consumption. A principal focus in the design and production of our laundry machines is the robustness of our products. That is why we can proudly say that many of our machines are still in daily use after 20 years and longer. Much has changed in the last 110 years but we have always remained true to our basic principles: Quality, longevity and innovation.  

  • Historisches Stahlgebäude

    1909

    Foundation by Gottlob and Karoline Stahl in Stuttgart

  • 1926

    Relocation of the company headquarters to Maichingen

  • 1934

    Development and construction of the first STAHL flatwork ironer

  • 1938

    Willy Stahl - the second generation is taking the helm

  • Gewerbe Waschmaschine

    1948

    Construction of the first STAHL metal washing machine

  • Profi Wäschetrockner kaufen

    1956

    Production of the first STAHL fully automatic washing machine with a spin cycle

  • Gottlob Stahl

    1961

    Gottlob G. Stahl takes over the company

  • 1964-1966

    Settlement in Ulmenstrasse in Maichingen

  • 1982

    Relocation of the input area on the trough via the radius upwards.

  • 1987

    Development of the STAHL power transmission system that only consumes as much energy as is currently required for the respective activity.

  • Profi Waschmaschine

    1989

    Development of today's drum bearings - bearing damage is a thing of the past.

  • 1990

    Development of the DOMESTIC folding machine

  • 1992-2002

    Gradual expansion of the plant to 7,500 m²

  • 1993

    Development of the ATOLL series

  • 1995

    Entry into the shortage technology of Multi-roller machines

  • 1999

    Development of the SERVANT input machine

  • 2000

    Development of the FREEpro microprocessor control

  • STAHL Familienbetrieb mit Grundsätzen

    2004

    Gottlob G. Stahl strengthens the management team with his four sons

  • 2008

    Expansion of the product areas folding technology and ironing lines. Construction of the world's largest trough mangle with a roll diameter of 2010 mm

  • 2009

    100-year company anniversary & development of the terry folding machine KOMBIFOLD

  • 2012

    Development of the DIVIMAT D-Y 1600 (up to 200 kg) & development of the STARFOLD flat linen folding machine & development of the T 352-356 tumble dryer
  • 2014

    Opening of the Gottlob STAHL hall.

  • 2015

    Creation of a powder coating system

  • 2017

    Extension of the Gottlob STAHL hall to 7800 m² at the Sindelfingen location

    Commissioning of the new production hall and opening of the showroom

  • 2019

    Development of the new dryer generation T352-356
