Drying Cabinet vs. Drying

Drying cabinet or dryer: Which is better for PPE textiles?

Textiles used as personal protective equipment (PPE) are exposed to many types of contamination, such as hazardous substances following firefighting operations. PPE must therefore be cleaned regularly. To ensure that the clothing is ready for use again as quickly as possible, dryers and drying cabinets are essential.

Drying cabinets dry more slowly, but more gently

Drying in a clothes dryer is generally twice as fast as drying in a drying cabinet. However, many PPE textiles must not be dried in a clothes dryer. To handle PPE as gently as possible, it is therefore recommended to dry it in a drying cabinet. The advantage: In a drying cabinet, no mechanical stress is placed on the garment, since the clothing hangs undisturbed on a hanger. Carabiners, buckles, Velcro fasteners, reflective strips, and printed designs remain undamaged.

TS 1300 Drying Cabinet from STAHL: Maximum Flexibility

Thanks to three adjustable temperature settings in the STAHL TS 1300 drying cabinet (40 / 60 / 80 °C), not only PPE but also many other items can be gently dried. Even clothing that has simply gotten wet, for example, can be easily dried on setting 1 (40 °C) and does not have to be returned to the locker while still wet. The drying cabinet can be used anywhere, as it does not require high-voltage power. Instead, it operates energy-efficiently on 230-V power with a maximum power consumption of 3 kWh. Thanks to the various adapters included with the unit, the STAHL TS 1300 drying cabinet offers maximum flexibility.

Drying in the drying cabinet is as gentle as possible: The entire drying cabinet is heated evenly, and moisture is removed from the air inside the cabinet through the condensation process. The TS 1300 does not require an exhaust vent to the outside. Unlike an exhaust-vented cabinet, textiles in the TS 1300 are not exposed to high temperatures directly. This ensures that the interior of the textiles—including thicker areas such as pockets—dries completely without thinner areas becoming overdried and damaged. The hangers can be removed just like in a regular wardrobe. This makes the STAHL TS 1300 drying cabinet easy to load and eliminates the risk of bumping one’s head. In contrast, competitors’ models use fixed hangers through which hot air is directed into the interior of the garments. These cause the garments to become very hot in the shoulder area, leading to rapid over-drying and, consequently, damage.

The STAHL TS 1300 drying cabinet can process up to 8 sets of jackets and pants at the same time—and with a second clothes rod, it can even handle up to 20 jackets. 42 plug-in holders provide space for up to 21 pairs of boots or gloves and up to 40 masks and other accessories.

The TS 1300 can be optionally equipped with an ozone lamp. Ozone ensures hygienic drying by reducing germs and odors.

The STAHL TS 1300 drying cabinet is the flexible and energy-efficient solution for firefighter uniforms, emergency medical service clothing, other PPE, boots, gloves, and much more!
