Hygiene starts with laundry
Hygiene has always played a major role. With the outbreak of pandemics, such as the coronavirus, hygiene has taken on even greater importance. After all, infections can be effectively prevented through strict and consistent hygiene measures. Many bacterial and viral infections are transmitted through droplet transmission. In addition to uncompromising hand hygiene and consistent adherence to coughing and sneezing etiquette, this also includes the hygienic cleaning of rooms, objects, and laundry.
Recommendation for Building Cleaning
The Federal Guild Association of Building Cleaners (BIV) recommends: The frequency of cleaning should be increased, especially in high-traffic areas. In particular, areas where many people gather should definitely be cleaned more regularly. These include, for example, entryways, restrooms, offices, cafeterias, schools, and public spaces. Wiping with a disinfectant is the recommended cleaning method, as coronaviruses are sensitive to grease-dissolving substances.
Laundry Recommendations
The risk of infection posed by laundry depends on whether viruses or bacteria can survive on dry laundry, or whether dry laundry comes into contact with contaminated, wet laundry. To date, very few pathogens are known to actually survive on dry laundry for extended periods of time. To break the chain of infection, it is essential to exercise the utmost caution when washing textiles. The following points should be kept in mind:
Only washing machines that guarantee the specified concentration of detergent, liquor ratio, temperature, and soaking time for the respective process should be used. Household washing machines are not suitable for disinfecting laundry.
VARIANT 1
Disinfection temperature: 85 °C – Exposure time: 15 minutes
Fluid ratio 1:4 to 1:5 Operating range AB
VARIANT 2
Disinfection temperature: 90 °C – Exposure time: 10 minutes
Fluid ratio 1:4 to 1:5 Operating range AB
Front-Loading/Hygiene Washing Machines
To prevent the disinfected laundry from becoming contaminated with pathogens, a hygiene washing machine can be used that is loaded on one side (the soiled side) and unloaded on the other side (the clean side). This is the only way to reliably ensure that contamination of the fresh laundry is prevented.
