In Leinfelden-Echterdingen, the fire department ensures safety around the clock with approximately 250 dedicated firefighters. To ensure there will be enough volunteers in the future, the fire department is committed to recruiting the next generation—through its own children’s group and an active youth fire brigade.
In addition to responding to emergencies and training the next generation, the Leinfelden-Echterdingen Fire Department also takes care of its own equipment: Since the summer of 2024, the firefighters’ protective gear has been cleaned in a laundry facility set up specifically for this purpose. Previously, an external laundry service had been contracted, but the fire station team wanted a more flexible, faster solution that would deliver optimal hygiene results. This led to contact with STAHL, and because of their proximity, the equipment could even be inspected on-site at STAHL.
The professionals at STAHL were involved in the planning of the laundry facility from the very beginning and were able to provide valuable advice on how to optimally arrange the equipment. Commander Frank Luz is thrilled with the expert support: „We received perfect support every step of the way and found a compelling overall package at STAHL. The advice and value for money are just right—it couldn’t have gone better.“
The ATOLL washing machine and the drying cabinet are used almost daily by the two full-time equipment maintenance technicians. In addition to jackets and pants, they also clean boots, helmets, and respirators—the entire set of protective gear. When setting up the laundry room, STAHL paid close attention to details—the height of the machines is optimally adjusted to the height of the people who operate them every day.
For the Leinfelden-Echterdingen Fire Department, setting up its own laundry facility has already paid off: Workflows have been streamlined; for example, equipment is inspected for damage immediately after cleaning and can be repaired right away.
