The Caritas workshops in Adenau offer people with disabilities an innovative and inclusive way to participate in the workforce. Among the on-site jobs is the laundry facility, where nine people with disabilities work alongside two full-time employees. The Adenau facility is part of St. Raphael Caritas Alten- und Behindertenhilfe GmbH, one of the largest social service providers in northern Rhineland-Palatinate. When the workshops in Adenau opened in 2021, the laundry was equipped with STAHL machines—several washers, dryers, and a trough press. „We’d already had very good experiences with STAHL at the Sinzig location,“ explains Johannes Haubrich, facility manager in Adenau.
STAHL was involved as early as the planning phase, and the building’s specialist designer worked closely with STAHL to ensure the laundry room was optimally integrated into the building’s structure. For example, a concrete base was poured for the washing machines to stabilize the four units that are in daily use here.
In Adenau, the laundry facility primarily handles flat linens for hotels and guesthouses in the region—due to its proximity to the Nürburgring, demand from the hospitality industry is particularly high here. While some private customers also use the services of the Caritas laundry, the majority of its clients are business customers. The equipment’s ease of use makes the employees„ work in the laundry easier, and if a special program is needed, the professionals at STAHL are happy to help. Facility Manager Johannes Haubrich is also very impressed with the service—when an emergency arises, all it takes is a phone call, and the technician is there the next day. In all other cases, an appointment is scheduled to allow for a cost-effective trip and avoid unnecessary expenses. “I think that’s very fair; I’m not used to that kind of service from other manufacturers,” says Johannes Haubrich.
